The Knowledge Camp Story
Knowledge Camp Global was born in 2014 from a simple but powerful observation: while Africa was experiencing unprecedented economic growth, a critical skills gap threatened to undermine that progress. Industries from mining to finance, engineering to healthcare were struggling to find professionals with the specialised skills needed to compete on a global stage.
Our founder, Dr. Thabo Khumalo, experienced this gap firsthand during two decades as a management consultant working across Africa. He watched talented professionals held back not by ambition or intelligence, but by a lack of access to quality, practical training that reflected the realities of African industries.
Starting with just five engineering courses and a single training room in Sandton, Johannesburg, Dr. Khumalo set out to build something different: a training organisation that combined international best practices with deep African industry expertise. Courses that were practical, immediately applicable, and taught by people who had actually done the work.
The response was immediate and overwhelming. Within two years, we had trained over 1,000 professionals and secured partnerships with some of South Africa's largest corporations. By 2017, we had expanded to Cape Town and Pretoria, and by 2019 our catalogue had grown to over 50 courses across eight disciplines.
Today, Knowledge Camp Global operates training centres in six African countries, offers over 70 courses across ten categories, and has earned the trust of more than 500 corporate clients. Our team of industry-expert instructors has trained over 15,000 professionals, and we are just getting started.

A visionary leader with over 20 years in professional training and development. Dr. Khumalo founded Knowledge Camp Global with a mission to bridge the skills gap across Africa. He holds a PhD in Organisational Development from the University of the Witwatersrand and has consulted for Fortune 500 companies across four continents.

Nomvula Zondo
Chief Operating Officer
An operations excellence expert with a background in engineering and MBA from GIBS. Nomvula oversees all training operations across our six African offices, ensuring every programme meets the highest quality standards. She has scaled the organisation from a single office to a pan-African presence.

Eng. Samuel Kimani
Head of Engineering Programmes
A registered Professional Engineer with 18 years of industry experience. Samuel has led over 200 training programmes in structural engineering, project management, and PLC systems. He previously served as Technical Director at a leading engineering firm in Nairobi before joining Knowledge Camp Global.
